Investment to increase production capacity at Lawton plant by 30%
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has unveiled a $320 million (€277 million) plan to expand its largest tire factory located in Lawton, Oklahoma.
The project aims to convert the plant’s production capacity to add 10 million units of annual capacity for passenger car tires, announced Oklahoma Department of Commerce 8 April.
The four-year investment is designed to enhance the plant’s capabilities to meet the growing demand for larger rim-diameter tires, which are higher-profit and higher-margin products.
The project will focus on producing tires for electric and autonomous vehicles, aligning with Goodyear’s strategic goals to cater to emerging automotive technologies.
Goodyear had previously invested $50 million in the plant between 2021 and 2023 to add factory space and an advanced mixer.
The new mixer enables the production of high performing tires for electric and autonomous vehicles.
